Jean WEIL (1948-2023)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cent Cols n\u00b0 7187 since 2011<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean was our president and above all our friend. He made, from ASUC his favourite club, a great family, something special ; everyone, whether cyclist, male or female, or guide has been able to add a valuable stone to this edifice that is in perpetual construction : a sort of Sagrada Familia. On this 11 September 2023 he has undertaken his final epic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Forester by profession and conviction, he had, all his life, defended with force, enthusiasm and tenacity, his \u00ab Forest \u00bb.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Immersed from his childhood in the heroic atmosphere of the post-war Tours de France, fascinated by the exploits of Coppi, Anquetil and Bahamont\u00e8s, he became captivated by the bike for ever.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Chasseur alpin during his national service, he acquired the taste for effort, friendship and \u2026 the mountains.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-A fervent adept of cross country skiing (with the grand finale of an unforgettable Vasalopett) andfull backin the football team of his lifelong Alsace village  \u00ab Uhrwiller \u00bb, where, including many years when he was deputy mayor, he often showed his qualities of competitor, unifierand team mate.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite naturally, in view of these rich experiences, he came tocycletouringto make it a way of life, a philosophy anda hub of innumerable adventures, always shared.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean Weil was an eclectic cyclist. With his wife Jo\u00eblle they both climbed more than 1000 cols ! They crisscrossed, with AS Uhrwiller Cyclo, every nook and cranny of France as well as the rooftops of Europe. Long distance touring with daily challenges, from the Tour of Flanders to Paris-Roubaix, from the Amstel Gold Race to Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge, fromthe Dolomites to the five French massifs, fromAustriato Spainnot forgetting Switzerland, Luxembourg orGermany, from Thonon to Trieste or Antibes, they proudly worethe green of ASUC. On MTBstheygreedily sought out, with their friends, all the off-road cols of the Vosges, from the Outre-For\u00eat to the Ballons. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean we won’t miss you,because you are still with us, and you will always be our guide.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
