Luitel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Col Luitel<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/backup\/util\/geo\/visuGen.php?code=FR-38-1262\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FR-38-1262<\/a>),<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a member of the club de Cent Cols, this name always &#8216;rings a bell&#8217; because it recalls the <strong>creation of the club<\/strong>\u00a0: <a href=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/backup\/en\/historique-cent-cols-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it was after climbing this col in 1970, that Jean Perdoux had the idea to create : &#8216;the Club des Cent Cols&#8217; <\/a>\u00a0before he wrote the rules in <strong>1972.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a Grenoblois going to ski at Chamrousse, \u00ab\u00a0the Luitel\u00a0\u00bb,\u00a0 was at the crossroads of the D111 (from Uriage to Chamrousse) and the narrow road that descends to S\u00e9chilienne \u2026 below the start of the Arselle ski de fond pistes\u00a0 \u2026 but no, the col is 500 metres from there, in the middle of the\u00a0Luitel nature reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-columns stk-block-columns stk-block stk-4ab8b72\" data-block-id=\"4ab8b72\"><style>.stk-4ab8b72{margin-bottom:0px !important}<\/style><div class=\"stk-row stk-inner-blocks stk-block-content stk-content-align stk-4ab8b72-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-stackable-column stk-block-column stk-column stk-block stk-024f7ca\" data-v=\"4\" data-block-id=\"024f7ca\"><div class=\"stk-column-wrapper stk-block-column__content stk-container IGN map, the localisation by the Club des Cent\u00a0 cols, and the of the position of the wooden sign showing Col Luitel 1262 m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow href=\"https:\/\/cyclotourisme-grenoble-ctg.org\/CTG\/mais-ou-est-donc-exactement-le-col-luitel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">But where exactly is the Col Luitel ?<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toponymye<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Luitel&nbsp;: is the name of the col, the lake, the peat bog and the nature reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/00378941.1963.10835448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article from the Bulletin of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Botanique de France<\/a> (page 150) \u00ab\u00a0The historic documents on the Luitel are practically inexistant. Rare are the old texts that refer to it ; The Is\u00e8re archives tell us nothing interesting about it. The most we can find sometimes cite the names of Lauvestellum, Lutet, Luther, then Luytel and Luitel\u00a0\u00bb(i).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geographical situation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"kt-adv-heading_459f2b-54 wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading_459f2b-54\">Massifs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u00a0The col Luitel is located in the south of the Belledonne range<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"kt-adv-heading_608f1a-5d wp-block-kadence-advancedheading\" data-kb-block=\"kb-adv-heading_608f1a-5d\">Geology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this place, more than 50000 years ago, an arm of the Romanche valley glacier slowly advanced by the Col Luitel. This veritable grinding continued to cut more or less deep depressions here (from 11 to 16 m.). Lake Luitel, originally much bigger was formed during the retreat of the glaciers. Constantly fed by waters, the lake was partly transformed into a bog by the strength and accumulation of vegetable debris. The lake&#8217;s outlet is located close to the hairpin bend of the D111 (coming from Uriage), just before the junction with the S\u00e9chilienne road. Lower down flows the Pr\u00e9mol Stream, a tributary of Grande Maille Stream at Vaulnaveys-le-Bas, itself a tributary of the Romanche at Vizille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The clearing of snow from the Chamrousse road using salt and the water run-off lead to the transfer of significant quantities of salt towards the Lake Luitel and its marsh. See the study\u00a0: <em>\u00ab\u00a0Les effets des \u00e9pandages de sel sur la tourbi\u00e8re lacustre du Luitel (massif de Belledonne, France) : la d\u00e9rivation des eaux du ruisseau du Rambert comme rem\u00e8de \u00e0 la pollution\u00a0\u00bb. <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.persee.fr\/doc\/rga_0035-1121_2003_num_91_1_2230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>(Revue de G\u00e9ographie Alpine\u00a0\u00a0Ann\u00e9e 2003\u00a0\u00a091-1\u00a0\u00a0pp. 51-66)<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Towards the south<\/strong> Bruyant Stream is a tributary of the Romanche at S\u00e9chilienne<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From Grenoble<\/strong> (Palais des sport 23.5 km, 213 m), Gi\u00e9res (at 20 km, alt&nbsp;; 227 m),&nbsp; Uriage (at 13 km, alt&nbsp; 412m)&nbsp; by the D524,&nbsp; MF de Pr\u00e9mol (at 3 km, 1088 m) by the D111, junction D111\/ RF (0,5 km \u2013 1268m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From Chamrousse <\/strong>(Roche Beranger) (alt 1745 m) by the D111 we reach the junction with the S\u00e9chilienne road after 7.5&nbsp; km of descent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>From S\u00e9chilienne <\/strong>(alt.&nbsp;368m) there is a &nbsp;10 km climb (road C1) to reach the Col Luitel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to see &#8211; tourism\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">At the col<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isere-tourisme.com\/patrimoine-naturel\/reserve-naturelle-du-luitel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">R\u00e9serve Naturelle du lac Luitel,<\/a> the first in France (1961), contains 17 hectares of ecological sites of peat bogs. Le Lac Luitel owes its existence to the great glaciers of the Quaternary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Col Luitel&#8217;s marsh was added to the reserve in 1991.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lacsdemontagne.fr\/pages%20web\/38\/Belledonne\/lac%20Luitel\/lac_luitel.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> reserve<\/a>, comprises two elements\u00a0: Lake Luitel, a marsh-lake characterised by floating rafts of vegetation, and the Col Luitel marsh, partly wooded. Maintained footpaths allow us to explore this milieu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Administrative situation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Col Luitel lies in the community of S\u00e9chilienne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The boundary with the community of Vaulnaveys-le-Haut is at the level of the D111 (Chamrousse road)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cycling and cycletouring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/backup\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/D-L-100-cols.jpg\">Fiftieth anniversary of the Club des Cents Cols<\/a> (Dauphin\u00e9 Lib\u00e9r\u00e9)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday 25 June 2022 the Club des Cent Cols celebrated its 50 years. The get-together, of about a hundred people took place in the car park of the maison foresti\u00e8re of Premol (altitude 1088 m) situated\u00a0 3 km from the col.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>After research and discussions between Guy Harl\u00e9, the organiser of the event, and some local cyclists,&nbsp; this place was chosen for its &nbsp;proximity to the col (and the impossibility of holding the get-together at the col itself because of the very small parking area sited alongside the Luitel nature reserve).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was absolutely necessary to avoid trampling on the reserve \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-6 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow
