Christophe CABLAT (CC N°8186) and Boris THOMAS (CC N°8188) offer us this challenge.
The Pyrénées are international: French, Spanish and Andorran. The Georges VERON Pyrénéan Challenge offers you 534 road cols of the Pyrénées in France, in Spain and in Andorra. You will climb the 10 cols over 2000 m of altitude in the Pyrénées. Of the 534 cols 23 cross the border between France and Spain.
The Georges VERON Pyrénéan Challenge is an homage to this great pyrénéist and cycletourist (1933-2004), the author of many guides and topos for walkers, creator of the Haute Route des Pyrénées for cyclists as well as the Tour des Pyrénées for cyclists, a circuit of 1490 km with its 21000 m of climbing. It is exactly this Tour des Pyrénées for cyclists that serves as the reference for this challenge, that « provides » the cols. The cols in the Challenge’s catalogue are those present on Véron’s route as well as all the cols in the interior of this route.
