Cycle loops in the Massif Central

Presentation

For a total of 1,538 km (956 miles), the 14 loops in the French mountain ridge include 109 cols, for a total ascent of about 29165 m (95686 ft).

This new version of permanent long-distance touring routes (« randonnées permanentes » in French) has been drawn by Jean-Marc Clément, a Club member.

Objective

Le Club des Cent Cols, fondé en 1972, affilié à la Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme sous le N°6384, vous propose cette randonnée permanente basée sur un thème simple : « Cent cols ».

Cent cols, soit pour vous permettre d’intégrer la Confrérie des Cent Cols, soit pour vous permettre de progresser dans le « tableau d’honneur » de la Confrérie, de toute façon pour vous faire découvrir ou redécouvrir le Massif Central si riche en sites naturels ou historiques.

Stamps

The participant has to obtain 14 stamps on the route at places they are left free to choose. These places are control points certifying they have done the itinerary required. Nevertheless, they must choose one control point along each loop. Please write the loop number on your road map.

2. Orcival : 90,5 km, 7 cols, D+ : 1915 m
3. Cournon d’Auvergne :  121 km, 6 cols, D+ : 2150 m
4. Thiers : 102 km, 7cols, D+ : 1920 m
5. Chalmazel : 98.5 km, 12 cols, D+ : 2075 m
6. Ambert 1 : 114 km, 5 cols, D+ : 2295 m
7. Ambert 2 : 103.5 km, 8 cols, D+ : 2000 m
8. Langeac : 118,5 km; 5 cols, D+ : 1905 m
9. Brives-Charensac : 123 km, 7 cols, D+ : 2355 m
10. Allanche 1 : 108 km, 6 cols, D+ : 2100 m
11. Allanche 2 : 124 km, 13 cols, D+ : 2430 m
12. Vic-sur-Cère : 115 km, 8 cols, D+ : 2450 m
13. Aurillac : 118 km, 9 cols, D+ : 2475 m
14. Châteauneuf de Randon : 112 km, 9 cols, D+ : 1980 m
