{"id":80213,"date":"2025-04-02T15:19:43","date_gmt":"2025-04-02T13:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/centcols.org\/?p=80213"},"modified":"2025-09-13T07:11:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-13T05:11:14","slug":"helvetica-ronda-one-hundred-passes-in-switzerland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centcols.org\/en\/helvetica-ronda-cent-cols-en-suisse\/","title":{"rendered":"Helvetica Ronda : One hundred passes in Switzerland"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 2830km route with 116 passes and a difference in altitude of around 49,000m, mapped out by Jacques Bezzola (Cent Cols N\u00b03842).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/rando_perm\/carto\/mbtrp.php?rp=hel\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/en\/rando_perm\/registration-php\/?rando=hel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Registration form<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Theme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Club des Cent Cols, founded in 1972, is affiliated to the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ffct.org\/\">French Cycling Federation<\/a>&nbsp;under No. 6384, offers you this permanent hike based on a simple theme: \u00abOne hundred passes\u00bb. One hundred passes, either to enable you to join the Confr\u00e9rie du Club des Cent Cols, or to enable you to progress up the Confr\u00e9rie's \u00abTableau d'Honneur\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discover Switzerland and many of its most beautiful passes. You will have the opportunity to cover 23 of its 26 cantons, with the notable exception of the cantons of Zurich (13 passes), Schaffhausen (3 passes) and Thurgau (0 passes!), as well as climbing passes that are less popular than those in the Alpine Arc, which are much more famous but often suffer from heavy road traffic. Most of them are included in this tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This tour takes as many quiet roads as possible, away from heavy traffic, mainly following the excellent \"Cycling in Switzerland\" concept, for which there is a K\u00fcmmerly+Frey map, unfortunately on a scale of 1:301,000. There are also \"regional\" maps on a scale of 1\/60000, but they are both very expensive (CHF 30 each) and do not cover all the regions we suggest you cycle through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also an iOS or Android application on the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swisstopo.admin.ch\">www.swisstopo.admin.ch<\/a>&nbsp; which allows you to download, for the price of CHF 38.- per year, maps to use throughout your journey, even offline (see details on the site in question).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are the routes, duly signposted with small burgundy panels, that have been chosen for the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full wp-image-25195\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"760\" height=\"740\" src=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/HelveticaProfil.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-81929\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Helvetica Ronda's profile<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Controls<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nine checks are compulsory. They will be carried out at points along the route chosen by the rider himself, using a wet stamp obtained from a shopkeeper or an authority, or using an explicit photo (bicycle in front of a town or mountain pass sign). Suggestion for control sectors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><tbody><tr><td>Geneva<\/td><td>Liestal<\/td><td>Lucerne<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Airolo<\/td><td>Glarus<\/td><td>St. Gallen<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Stelvio<\/td><td>Lugano<\/td><td>Finhaut<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main passes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are 22 passes over 2000m: Stelvio, Umbrail, Nufenen, Grimsel, Furka and Gotthard are the best known. There are also a host of \u00absmaller\u00bb passes: Givrine, Marchairuz, Mollendruz, Aiguillon, Vue des Alpes, Chasseral for French-speaking Switzerland; Glaubenberg, Br\u00fcnig, Grosse Scheidegg, Klausen, Pragel, Kunkels for German-speaking Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please note that some of the passes (Grosse Scheidegg) are not fully tarmacked, nor are some sections of the \"Cycling in Switzerland\" routes.
