See the long version (33\u2032)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n See the albums at the bottom of the page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bauges massif, located in Savoie and Haute-Savoie in the birthplace of the Club des Cent Cols, will welcome us this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A presentation of the tours will be available at a later date on the website and in the annual review.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This meeting will be a bit special, as we will be celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the Club des Cent Cols with dignity (before celebrating again at the Annual General Meeting in Annecy on December 1). A festive meal is planned for 4 August after the meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following a situation beyond our control (unavailable accommodation), the Club apologises to our members who would have preferred a meeting earlier in July or further away from the date of the federal week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can now download the holiday brochure<\/a> (1.7 Mio) which will be distributed to each participant thanks to the financial participation of the tourism agency for the two Savoie regions, Savoie Mont Blanc Tourisme. This brochure is in A5 format, with 2 A5 portrait pages on an A4 sheet to be printed in landscape orientation on both sides and folded in the centre. We have therefore reserved all the available places (80) at the \"Eau Vive\" centre on the banks of the Lescheraines lake and the 12 comfortable mobile homes at the municipal campsite adjacent to \"Eau Vive\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n Accommodation at l'Eau Vive will be in rooms of 2 or 3 (no single rooms available) and each mobile home will sleep 3 people (2 bedrooms and a living room with a convertible bed can accommodate one person per room) or 4 if there is a family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n See map : http:\/\/www.savoie-camping.com\/fr\/locations\/mobilhome.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Meals will be served at Eau Vive for all. Please note: The mobile homes and the holiday centre are fully booked and no longer available. However, you can still book the festive meal or meals. It is imperative that the last reservations reach the person in charge by Wednesday 11 July at the latest. Please only complete the meal section of the registration form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The cost of board will be the same whether you stay at the centre or in a mobile home. This accommodation is just as comfortable as that offered at \"l'Eau Vive\", and just as friendly, as the campsite is next to the centre and many other members will be taking part in the camping trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Registration for accommodation at the l'Eau Vive centre has been open since the magazine was sent out. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, as evidenced by the postmark. A waiting list will be set up if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For members not taking part in the holiday, don't delay in registering for the festive meal on 4 August (use the holiday registration form and fill in only this section). You can do so now, before the magazine is published, by sending in the \"Mobile Homes\" registration form linked above. On the one hand, because if 15 or 20 people are added without our being informed, we won't be able to properly size the welcome and farewell drinks (no, it's not vital, but we're concerned to welcome all the participants properly and we're bound to be criticised even for this type of festivity) or the size of a room for conferences... The list of all circuits<\/a> is available, as well as separate lists for road routes<\/a> and mountain bike trails<\/a>. From these lists, interactive maps, route sheets and altitude profiles are also available for each route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For those who use GPS or mapping software on their computer, the geolocation files<\/a> can be downloaded. Depending on the weather, dates may be changed at short notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n by Annabelle POTY (3663)<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Bauges massif is one of the pre-alpine massifs along with the Bornes, Chartreuse and Vercors. It is undoubtedly the least well-known of them all. At its foot are the towns of Chamb\u00e9ry, Aix-les-Bains, Annecy, Albertville and the natural lakes of Le Bourget and Annecy. It straddles the Savoie and Haute Savoie regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Topographically, the heart of the massif is well defined, notably by the Leschaux, Ch\u00e9rel, Fr\u00eane, Pr\u00e9s and Plainpalais passes. It is drained by the torrential Ch\u00e9ran, which flows out of the massif through a cluse between the Semnoz and the Bange mountain to join the Fier in the Albanais plain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1996, the massif was recognised as a Regional Nature Park (64 communes). Preservation of the flora and fauna is a long-standing commitment, as a national game and wildlife reserve has existed since 1955. This was designed in particular to protect the chamois. Today, the black grouse and the Venus hoof are also emblematic of the Bauges. The wolf is also present. (Certain parts of the reserve are strictly forbidden to traffic, even on foot. See mapped regulations available from the Maison du Parc in Le Ch\u00e2telard).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Perhaps because of its average altitude (max. 2217 m) and difficult access, this is an area that has remained untouched by the major tourist developments in the Alps. As a result, the Bauges massif is particularly well preserved. Tourism here is \"gentle\". There are no imposing ski resorts, but rather snow stadiums with little or no tourist accommodation (Marg\u00e9riaz, Semnoz). The Revard is best known for its cross-country skiing. In summer, the main activities are hiking, cycling, fishing and hang-gliding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Baujue identity is strongest in the canton of Le Ch\u00e2telard through its built heritage. When the monks settled in the Bauges in the 11th and 12th centuries, they shaped the landscape and left some of the most imposing monuments, such as the Benedictine priory at Bellevaux and the Charterhouse at Aillon. The latter is home to the Park's heritage centre. Discover the tavalans, typical architectural elements that make up the Baujues barns or, in the Comp\u00f4te valley, the line of barns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, tourism, agriculture and forestry are the main resources. Farms are mainly focused on dairy farming. This production is promoted by an AOC Tome des Bauges (not Tomme de Savoie). The Aillons cheese dairy organises visits to its production facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The latest news from the massif is that it has been awarded the UNESCO \"Geopark\" label. The Bauges is now France's 3rd Geopark out of 87 worldwide, including 49 in Europe. This label highlights the richness of the region's emblematic geological heritage, including the Arclusaz, a highly aesthetic perched syncline. Less well known because less visible, the subsoil represents a precious resource both for the water it stores and for the development of tourism.
