Situation <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

L<\/span>he Cerdagne is a high plateau at an average altitude of 1,200 m, occupying the basin of an ancient glacial lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is surrounded by peaks and massifs topping 3,000 m, with the Carlit range (2,921 m) to the north and the Cadi-Moixero and Puigmal ranges (2,910 m) to the south. The north is dominated by granite chaos, while the south is dominated by schist cliffs: these are the materials used to build the houses in the villages of the Cerdans. The area is exceptionally bright and sunny for around 300 days a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cerdagne, which belonged in its entirety to the kingdom of Aragon, owes its current division to the Treaty of the Pyrenees signed in 1659 between the France of Louis XIV and the Spain of Philip IV. Part of the Cerdagne (33 villages, not including Llivia, which was raised to the rank of town), the Conflent and the Roussillon were ceded to France. Llivia was therefore a Spanish enclave on French territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spanish part, known as Basse Cerdagne, borders the Principality of Andorra and French Cerdagne to the north, Ripoll\u00e8s to the east, Bergued\u00e0 to the south and Alt Urgell to the west.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The French part, or Haute Cerdagne, shares its border with the comarques of Ripoll\u00e8s, Cerdanya and the Principality of Andorra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cerdagne region has been occupied since prehistoric times, with remains of Neolithic settlements and numerous menhirs and dolmens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More recent but numerous are the Romanesque churches of the XIe<\/sup> and XIIe<\/sup> centuries, containing works of art ranging from frescoes (XIIe<\/sup> century) to the Baroque altarpiece (XVIIIe<\/sup> century).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accommodation will be at the Village-Club d'Yravals located in the commune of Latour-de-Carol at an altitude of 1250 m. It comprises a central building with a lounge, bar, wifi, restaurant and meeting room, and pavilions around it with bedrooms.
To register, please download and fill in the registration form, then return it with your payment to the person in charge of the holiday, whose address is on the form, by 15 June 2013.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The club has negotiated a group rate and a package for the period in question and does not manage extra nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Programme details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are enough tours for those who want to stay for the whole week.
Each day, you'll be offered a road and a mule route, which will take you through some wonderful landscapes and, for those who want to take the trouble, the richness of the local heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can display either the all tours<\/a>or separate lists for circuits road<\/a> and MOUNTAIN BIKE<\/a>. From these lists, interactive maps, roadmaps and altitude profiles are also available for each route.
For those who use GPS or mapping software on their computer, geolocation files can be downloaded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note:<\/strong> Although Carto Exploreur geolocation files are available for all tours, they are only useful for tours entirely in France, as the mapping in this software stops at the borders. For tours in Andorra and Spain, you'll need to use a different software package.
Depending on the weather, dates may be changed at short notice.
