Preliminary remarks\u00a0\u00a0<\/u><\/span><\/h2>\n

We still have many passes to document.<\/span><\/p>\n

Photos of mountain passes,<\/strong> as well as their access or approach roads, are of great interest in providing information to colleagues<\/strong> (trail conditions, tricky sections, dubious starts, etc.), as well as those showing the environment (meadow, forest, scree, etc.), thus complementing the information on the map and catalogue.<\/span><\/p>\n

For passes already documented, the photos sent must provide a useful complement<\/strong> to those already online to avoid duplication.<\/span><\/p>\n

A file for each country or department can be supplied on request. This allows you to check visually whether the passes are documented or not.<\/span><\/p>\n

All photos are welcome. However, a photo of inferior quality (poor visibility, illegible sign, bad weather conditions, etc.) may be replaced by the person responsible for putting it up. online.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  • Photos must be 800\u00d7600 in JPEG format and no larger than 1 MB.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    To this end, there are free and easy-to-use tools for reducing photos: bulkresizephotos.com,<\/strong> for example.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Each photo must be captioned by code, <\/strong>the collar name,<\/strong> and what it represents<\/strong>. For example :<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Specific criteria\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

      • Photographs of signs at the pass, which can be used to validate the pass, must be clearly legible.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Photos of directional signs - very useful signs because they indicate a privileged route, often signposted - must be accompanied by an indication of where the sign is located <\/strong>so that you can locate it geographically when planning your itineraries.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The caption for the photo of the pass must be concise and self-explanatory<\/strong>for example:<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
      • \"view of the pass from the south side<\/em><\/strong>\" <\/strong>(or access - or pass on the horizon via the south-facing slope)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • \"Trailhead from track X<\/em><\/strong>\"<\/em><\/strong> (or any information on the practicability of the access, especially for muleteers: tricky passage, scree at the end of the north-facing access, etc.)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • \"the collar<\/em><\/strong>\" <\/strong>(photo of the pass itself) <\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • \"view from the pass to the south<\/em><\/strong> (or the valley, or a place defined on the map) <\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • \"cross at the collar<\/em><\/strong> (or any other cultural, historical or tourist feature<\/em>...)<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n
      • If possible, on a photo of a ridge, mark the position of the pass concerned (arrow or text) (see examples: FR-04-2222 and FR-04-2680<\/em>).<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Photos must be neutral: <\/strong>The focus should be on landscapes; the bike should remain discreet; people should not be represented or identifiable.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n
