Hoogte: 700 m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toeristische informatie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Sierra Nevada (wat in het Spaans \u00abbesneeuwde bergketen\u00bb betekent) is een bergmassief dat zich uitstrekt van oost naar west. Het is tegelijk met de Alpen ontstaan bij de botsing tussen de Afrikaanse en de Euraziatische plaat.\u00a0 De Pico del Veleta (3396 m) is de op twee na hoogste berg van Spanje en ligt aan het westelijke uiteinde van de bergketen, boven de stad Granada. De \u201ehoogste weg van Europa\u201c (de titel is omstreden!) loopt bijna tot aan de top. Enkele zijpassen dragen bij aan de aantrekkingskracht van de Pico del Veleta voor fietsers.<br>De beklimming van de Pico del Veleta maakt deel uit van deze route.<br>Langs de route liggen hotels, waardoor je de klim in twee delen kunt opsplitsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technische specificaties<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deze tocht is bedoeld voor ervaren wandelaars: je kunt de tocht in etappes afleggen door tijdens de klim in een hotel te overnachten.<br>Het parcours bestaat uit 84 km geasfalteerde weg, 10 km onverharde weg, 6 km verbindingsweg tussen de skipistes van het skigebied Pradollano en 1 km fietspad aan het einde.
