Hoogte: 700 m<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toeristische informatie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De Sierra Nevada (Spaans voor met sneeuw bedekte bergketen) is een oost-west gebergte. Het is tegelijk met de Alpen gevormd toen de Afrikaanse en Euraziatische platen op elkaar botsten.  De Pico del Veleta (3396 m) is de op twee na hoogste top van Spanje en ligt aan de westkant van het gebergte, boven de stad Granada. De \u201choogste weg van Europa\u201d (de titel wordt betwist!) klimt bijna helemaal naar de top.
