De bron van de gelijknamige torrent is vlakbij.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geografische locatie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Massieven<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">De pas ligt op de grens tussen de Alpenmassieven van de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grandes_Rousses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Grandes Rousses<\/a> (in het zuiden), de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Massif_des_Arves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Arves<\/a> (in het oosten) en de <a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cha%C3%AEne_de_Belledonne\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Belledonne-gebergte<\/a> (verder naar het westen).&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geologie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Le col du Glandon et le col de la Croix de Fer sont g\u00e9ographiquement tr\u00e8s proches car distants de moins de 3&nbsp;km.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"987\" height=\"414\" src=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-photo.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82512\" style=\"width:800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-photo.jpg 987w, https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-photo-768x322.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 987px) 100vw, 987px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">De Col de la Croix-de-Fer maakt geologisch gezien deel uit van het massief van de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grandes_Rousses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Grandes Rousses<\/a>. Dit maakt deel uit van de uitgestrekte kristallijne regio die de Mercantour, Les \u00c9crins, Oisans, Belledonne en Mont-Blanc massieven omvat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">De rotsen waaruit de pas bestaat zijn vulkanische tufstenen van een vulkaanuitbarsting uit het Carboon (ongeveer 300 miljoen jaar geleden), het resultaat van de botsing van tektonische platen tijdens de oprijzing van de Alpen. Het is ook mogelijk om \u00abroche moutonn\u00e9es\u00ab of \u00bbwalvisrotsen\" te zien. Dit zijn uitstekende rotsen die de littekens dragen van een gletsjer die over hun oppervlak heeft geschuurd en ze heeft gestript en gepolijst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ge\u00efnteresseerde lezers worden verwezen naar het uitgebreide artikel van&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.geol-alp.com\/h_maurienne\/_lieux_maurienne_Sud\/Ouillon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">geol-alp.com<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hydrografie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Westkant (Is\u00e8re-kant)<\/strong>&nbsp;De vallei van Eau d'Olle. <br>L'eau d'Olle is een zijrivier van de Romanche, die ontspringt bij de Col de la Croix de Fer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Versant est puis nord (cot\u00e9 Savoie)&nbsp;: <\/strong>de Arvan-vallei.<br>Het staat ook bekend als de Vall\u00e9e des Arves. <br>De Arvan is een zijrivier van de Arc bij Saint Jean de Maurienne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Beide hellingen maken deel uit van de <strong>Stroomgebied van de Is\u00e8re<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Toegang<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Is\u00e8re zijde<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">L\u2019acc\u00e8s est commun avec le col du Glandon jusqu\u2019au carrefour D926 \/ D927 (alt. 1907&nbsp;m) \u00e0&nbsp;200&nbsp;m du col du Glandon et \u00e0 2,7&nbsp;km du col de la Croix de Fer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">La D526 part de Rochetaill\u00e9e (\u00e0&nbsp;32.5&nbsp;km, alt. 711&nbsp;m), traverse Allemond (\u00e0 30&nbsp;km), passe sur la barrage des Verneys et longe le lac (rive gauche), traverse le Rivier d\u2019Allemond (\u00e0 18&nbsp;km \u2013 alt. 1264&nbsp;m) ,&nbsp;pr\u00e8s du Barrage de Grand\u2019Maison (\u00e0 9&nbsp;km \u2013 alt. 1720&nbsp;m) puis longe en rive droite le lac,. Elle devient D926 en traversant le Rieu Claret (\u00e0 4&nbsp;km, limite Is\u00e8re \/ Savoie, alt. 1773&nbsp;m) avant de rejoindre le carrefour avec la D927 vers le Col de la Croix de Fer.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"964\" height=\"822\" src=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-carte.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82515\" style=\"width:800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-carte.jpg 964w, https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Glandon-carte-768x655.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 964px) 100vw, 964px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Savoie kant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Van <strong>Saint Jean de Maurienne<\/strong> (\u00e0 29&nbsp;km \u2013 alt. 570&nbsp;m), <strong>via de D926&nbsp;<\/strong>: le Pont de Belleville (\u00e0 14&nbsp;km \u2013 alt. 1228&nbsp;m), Saint Sorlin d\u2019Arves (\u00e0 10&nbsp;km \u2013 1400m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><em>A signaler&nbsp;: trois tunnels (96, 178 et 503&nbsp;m &#8211; bien \u00e9clair\u00e9s) situ\u00e9s entre 17,5 et 16&nbsp;km du sommet du co<\/em>l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Via de Glandonpas<\/strong>, de <strong>D927<\/strong> geeft toegang tot de Col du Glandon (<a href=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/nl\/util\/geo\/visu.php\/?code=FR-73-1924\">FR-73-1924<\/a>) &nbsp;depuis la Maurienne (Saint-Etienne de Cuines &nbsp;\u00e0 21&nbsp;km \u2013 alt.&nbsp;. 450&nbsp;m) via Saint-Colomban-des-Villards (\u00e0&nbsp; 10&nbsp;km du col \u2013 alt. &nbsp;1100&nbsp;m).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Du col du Glandon on rejoint par une courte descente (200&nbsp;m) le carrefour (alt. 1907m) avec la D926&nbsp; en provenance d\u2019Allemont et le lac de Grand\u2019Maison. Le col de la Croix de Fer est alors \u00e0 2,7&nbsp;km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wijziging van toegang<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Is\u00e8re zijde<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">De weg werd voor het eerst aangelegd naar de Col du Glandon in 1898. De verlenging naar de Col de la Croix de Fer werd ingehuldigd op 14 juli 1912.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aan het einde van de XX<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;eeuw twee veranderingen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>De route werd gewijzigd met de bouw van de&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fr.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Barrage_de_Grand%27Maison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stuwdam Grand-Maison<\/a>&nbsp;van 1978 tot 1985. De weg hangt iets over het meer (ongeveer vijftig meter) voordat hij licht afdaalt naar de Eau d'Olle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Op 23 april 1989 werd een&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irma-grenoble.com\/04risques_isere\/00commune_evenements_fiche.php?id_evenements=771\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Aardverschuiving van Pic Bunard&nbsp;<\/a>&nbsp;(300 \u00e0 400&nbsp;m<sup>3<\/sup>&nbsp;de roches) a emport\u00e9 la route (rive droite de l\u2019Eau d\u2019Olle) au-dessus du Rivier d\u2019Allemond au niveau de la cascade de Maupas. La route a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconstruite sur la rive gauche sur 2&nbsp;km, avec une descente (62&nbsp;m en 600&nbsp;m) pour traverser le torrent puis une remont\u00e9e assez raide (11% pour le premier kilom\u00e8tre). L\u2019ancienne route est encore visible le long du flanc de la montagne rive droite.&nbsp;<em>(C\u2019\u00e9tait une ann\u00e9e avec Marmotte et BRA.&nbsp; Une nouvelle route a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite en 2 mois&nbsp;! un miracle de d\u00e9cision).<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"992\" height=\"744\" src=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/EBOULEMENT-MAUPAS.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82516\" style=\"width:800px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/EBOULEMENT-MAUPAS.jpg 992w, https:\/\/centcols.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/EBOULEMENT-MAUPAS-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 992px) 100vw, 992px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>L\u2019\u00e9boulement de 1989 provenant du Pic Bunard&nbsp;; en bas \u00e0 droite la nouvelle route passant en rive gauche de l\u2019Eau D\u2019Olle et se dirigeant vers le Col du Glandon.&nbsp;<\/em><br><em>Boven rechts, de Rissou berg, met uitzicht op de Maupas kloof.<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp; <a href=\"http:\/\/forayrandobrie.free.fr\/Belledonne\/Belledonne1314\/index_fichiers\/Page1126.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Source&nbsp;: forayrandobrie.free.fr\/Belledonne<\/a><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Savoie kant<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Eeuwenlang leidde alleen een muilezelpad naar de pas.<br>&nbsp;Het werd in 1900 omgevormd tot een weg van Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves naar de Col (en vervolgens uitgebreid naar de Col du Glandon in 1912). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wat te zien - toerisme <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><br>Is\u00e8re zijde (gedeeld met Col du Glandon)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">La <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr\/auvergne-rhone-alpes\/isere\/video-immersion-a-la-centrale-hydroelectrique-de-grand-maison-en-isere-la-plus-puissante-d-europe-2274700.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Centrale Grand'Maison<\/a><\/strong> is een PETS (Pumped Energy Transfer Station). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Een hogere beperking (<strong>Grand'Maison meer<\/strong>, 1695&nbsp;m) est reli\u00e9e par des conduites forc\u00e9es \u00e0 un bassin inf\u00e9rieur, la <strong>Stuwmeer van Le Verney,<\/strong> situ\u00e9 900&nbsp;m plus bas au niveau de la centrale <strong>(Lac du Verney<\/strong>, 725&nbsp;m, 15 millions de m\u00b3 d\u2019eau). En p\u00e9riode de forte consommation, la centrale turbine l\u2019eau de la retenue sup\u00e9rieure. L\u2019eau rejoint alors le bassin aval.
