We hebben net een vriend verloren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

G\u00e9rald werd lid van de club in 2003 en heeft deelgenomen aan talrijke reizen. Hij heeft vele jaren voor de club gewerkt: vertaler (artikelen voor onze website, inschrijfformulieren voor onze reizen), auteur van de saga van Parpaillon<\/a> (compilatie van artikelen die van 1970 tot 2020 in het tijdschrift zijn verschenen over deze legendarische pas). Deze zomer stemde hij ermee in om de functie van Nationaal Afgevaardigde voor de zone Verenigd Koninkrijk en Ierland op zich te nemen, ter vervanging van J\u00e9r\u00e9my Chandler, die gezondheidsproblemen had.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hij zou deelnemen aan de zomerreis naar Vaison-la-Romaine, maar op 19 augustus vertelde hij me dat hij moest opgeven omdat zijn ziekte hem zo zwak had gemaakt dat hij de reis niet kon maken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Als liefhebber van de Ubaye verbleef hij 25 jaar lang in het Cheval Blanc hotel in Barcelonnette, waar hij de trouwste klant was. Overgestoken op 26 juni 2025, was de Baisse de P\u00e9gui\u00e9ou FR-04-2400a zijn laatste pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paulette Autric, die hem het beste kende, vertelde me: \u00abHij was zorgeloos, hij zag het gevaar niet\u00bb.
