Colle dei MORTI of Colle FAUNIERA (Piemonte) 2480m IT-CN-2480a<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

OOSTELIJKE HELLING :
De Colle dei MORTI, die voor het eerst werd genomen door de renners van de Giro van \u00ab99 onder de naam \u00bbColle FAUNIERA\", is niettemin een zeer grote pas, vanwege het grote hoogteverschil en vooral vanwege de steile, aanhoudende hellingen, verspreid over 15 kilometer. De pas heeft een gemiddeld stijgingspercentage van 9,2%!
Colle dei Morti lijkt afgesneden van de wereld in zijn sobere omgeving van rotspartijen, rotsachtige baren en uitgestrekte bergweiden waar een paar schapen grazen. Het is een plek van totale isolatie! Als je deze pas voor het eerst beklimt, sta je versteld van de schoonheid van het landschap, dat zich voortdurend vernieuwt naarmate je verder komt, naar nieuwe horizonten, hoger en hoger, en je hebt het gevoel dat je het einde van de klim nooit zult zien, dat je \u00abnaar de hemel zweeft\u00bb, zoals een van de organisatoren van de Giro het uitdrukte.
De klim begint rustig bij Monteroso Grana. Bij het verlaten van Pradleves klim je langs de Grana bergstroom steil omhoog. Na Campomolino wordt de helling aanzienlijk steiler om het San Magno heiligdom te bereiken, een Himalaya tempel waardig! (Gemiddeld stijgingspercentage: 10% over 6 km, maximaal 12 tot 13%). Na het heiligdom wordt de weg erg smal en, na een kort niveau, wordt de helling steiler tot 12%, terwijl het landschap steeds wilder en grootser wordt! De toevluchtsoord van Trofarello kondigt de laatste twee kilometer aan, waar het stijgingspercentage afneemt tot 7,4% tot je de splitsing aan de rechterkant bereikt richting de Colle d'Esischie (2366m IT-CN-2366b<\/a>), die je 20,3 km over de noordelijke helling naar Ponte Marmora brengt. Colle Vallonetto (2439m IT-CN-2438<\/a>) voordat we aankomen bij de Col dei Morti, het einde van de klim, aan de voet van de Cima Fauniera (2515m) aan de linkerkant, bereikbaar via een pad.

ZUIDOOSTELIJKE HELLING :
Vanuit het zuidoosten benaderd, biedt de Colle dei Morti ook een weelderige klim, bijna net zo zwaar als de Pradleves-kant en met een even wild en mooi landschap. Hoewel de route op iets grotere hoogte begint, lijkt het stijgingspercentage sterk op dat van de oostelijke helling vanwege een lichte afdaling na Fedio. Het gemiddelde stijgingspercentage voor de 24,2 km lange klim is 7,1%.
Vanaf Demonte begint de klim meteen en is vrij onregelmatig (maximaal 10.5% voor Fedio). Dit wordt gevolgd door een korte afdaling naar een brug over een beek, en dan wordt de klim hervat, afgewisseld met talloze steile stukken (maximaal 14% voor Trinit\u00e0). Tot San Giacomo passeert de weg een aantal gehuchten en is het landschap rustgevend en bosrijk. Na San Giacomo versmalt de weg als hij het bovenste deel van de Arma-vallei beklimt. Na de 12e<\/sup> kilometer begint het moeilijkste deel, een stuk van 9,9 km aan 9,2% met veel passages aan 11% en hoger. Het brengt je naar de Colle di Valcavera (2416m IT-CN-2429<\/a>), een paar meter links van de weg.
Ook hier zijn de soberheid en schoonheid van het landschap opvallend, vooral na de afslag Colle di Valcavera waar je de Morti-vallei binnenkomt door een verrassend minerale wereld! De weg is aanvankelijk vlak, maar stijgt steil (bijna 14%) om een zeer smalle, in de rotsen uitgehouwen kloof over te steken die naar de Colle dei Morti leidt, aan de rechterkant gedomineerd door de Cima Fauniera met daarop een kruis.
