Tourist information

After the Col de la Chevestraye, you pass through the village of Belfahy. The village centre lies at 840 m and is the highest village in the Haute-Saône and indeed in the Vosges mountains. At the Col des Chevrères, the route then leads to the brand-new Unnamed Pass and the Goutte des Saules waterfall. Before heading back to Plancher-les-Mines, the Super Planche via the Planche des Belles Filles – world-famous thanks to the Tour de France – is on the itinerary. The Col d’Auxelles, straddling the Haute-Saône (70) and the Territoire de Belfort (90), is situated on the southern edge of the Vosges mountains. It offers a view to the south over the famous Belfort Gap, a 20-kilometre-wide passage between the Vosges and the Jura, also known as the ‘Gateway to Burgundy’.

Technical specifications

The route initially follows a road – which is rather steep and busy – up to the Col des Chevrères. A cycle path (except for the last 50 metres) on the right leads over the Col sans Nom.
A lovely forest track, followed by a tricky section, leads us to the waterfall. This tricky section can be avoided by continuing straight on along the track. The climb up to the Super Planche des Belles Filles is tough (7 km with 600 metres of elevation gain, including some very steep sections). The return to the car park is straightforward.
