General Meeting of the Club des Cent Cols in Vogüé (Ardèche) on 29 and 30 November 2014
Presentation
For this 2014 AGM, the brotherhood will be moving to a more central location, the village of Vogüé, listed as one of the most beautiful in France. We will be welcomed at the "Lou Capitelle" estate. The AGM will be held on Saturday from 3pm.
Vogüé is a village with a population of 940, situated at an average altitude of 160 m in the lower Ardèche valley. Built in the shape of an amphitheatre on the banks of the Ardèche, Vogüé was a medieval village and an important railway junction until 1982. Some of the tracks are still used by the «Picasso» tourist train, which offers a breathtaking view from the viaduct. The oldest parts of the village date back to the 11th century.e century and the XVIIe. The fortified castle, which dates back to medieval times and was refurbished in the XVIIth century, has been restored.eIt belonged to the Marquis Pierre de Vogüé. La Tourasse, in the centre of the village, is the oldest dwelling in the area. A Benedictine priory has given way to the church of Sainte Marie. The village's main source of income is tourism and vine-growing. The village is home to the renowned Ardéchoise cycle race every year. The heights above the village are classified as a "Natural Area of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest". The village has also been awarded the "Station Verte de Vacances" label.

Road and mountain bike routes are on offer on both Saturday 29 and Sunday 30. These are suggestions that everyone can adapt to suit their fitness and the weather. Of course, you'll need to leave early enough on Saturday to be back in time for the meeting: the bike departures are scheduled for 8.30am. If you're doing the route by mountain bike, you'll need to leave half an hour beforehand to get from Vogüé to Largentière by car. The list of all tours is available, as well as separate lists for road routes and mountain bike trails. From these lists, altitude profiles and interactive maps are available for each route.

Bikes for Africa
This operation was successfully launched by our late friend Roland Grimaud, in conjunction with the 2008 Club des Cent Cols AGM in Château-Arnoux and the 2009 AGM in Yenne. I offered to run it again in Annecy at the 2012 AGM, and once again a large number of you responded. The event will continue this year, on 29 November in Vogüé.
This initiative has been run since 2001 by the Grenoble-based association «REPERAGES».
Solidarity actionREPERAGES: REPERAGES collects all bicycles, large and small, in good or poor condition, even incomplete, then refurbishes them in its workshop and sends them to Africa, particularly Burkina Faso and Mali, where the action is taken over by village associations. There, the use of bicycles encourages children to go to school, makes the work less arduous...
Help with integrationIn Grenoble, the structure has created jobs that are supervised and supported as part of the integration process. Between 3,000 and 3,500 bicycles are collected each year.
Environmental actionA non-polluting means of transport, a bicycle can be purchased from REPERAGES.
The Grenoble structure is supported by the local authorities - State - Region - Department - City. Numerous local authorities, associations and volunteers work together in the collection field.
In Vogüé, a drop-off point (to be specified) will be available. It will be open on Saturday 29 November from 9am to 1pm.
Please inform me in advance of the number and size of bikes so that REPERAGES can organise the collection. Of course, bicycle accessories are also collected.
Thank you for your generosity...
