Catalogue update tool
Goal
Members who have customised their collar files from catalogues by adding columns can update them when new versions of the catalogues are published.
Use
Three files are required for the update:
- an old catalogue with custom columns added on the right standard columns,
- a new version of the catalogue as it may be downloaded by members,
- a tool created by Christophe Augé (member 5783) and available in two downloadable versions:
Instructions for use are displayed in the file itself. The two other files opened at the same time in Excel resp. Calc.
Warnings
Please enter the file names in a case-sensitive manner. Otherwise, an error message will be displayed saying that the file is not open.
Updating can take time, especially for catalogues containing several thousand passes. With the Excel version, the Cols de France catalogue, for example, normally takes a few minutes, with no progress displayed. It has also been known to take several hours, but after a system update (Windows), the speed returned to normal. So not everything is predictable. With LibreOffice, the update can take more than an hour, but you can see the progress on the display. These tools are made available after they have been tested, but without any guarantee from the club.
