Pyrenees Challenge Georges VERON

Christophe CABLAT (CC No. 8186) and Boris THOMAS (CC No. 8188) are proposing this challenge.

The Pyrenees are international: French, Spanish and Andorran. The Challenge des Pyrénées Georges VERON offers you the chance to climb 534 road passes in the Pyrenees in France, Spain and Andorra. You will climb the 10 passes over 2000 metres in altitude in the Pyrenees. This list includes 23 cross-border passes between France and Spain.

The Challenge des Pyrénées Georges VERON is a tribute to this great Pyrenean cyclist and touring cyclist (1933-2004), author of numerous guidebooks and walking guides, creator of the Haute Route des Pyrénées by bike and the Tour des Pyrénées by bike, a 1,490km circuit with 21,000 metres of ascent. It is precisely this Tour of the Pyrenees by bike that serves as the benchmark for this challenge, which "qualifies" the passes. The passes listed in the catalogue are those on Véron's route, plus all the passes within his route.

Genesis of a Cent Cols Club Challenge

This challenge is open to members and non-members of the Hundred Passes Club. It can also be the basis for the first hundred passes for a new member, or simply an incentive to discover the intimacy and diversity of the Pyrenees.
