Author description

Author Bernard Giraudeau
Course to be carried out in 2019
Departure : car park near the Calacuccia dam. Altitude: 810 m.

Tourist information

The southern ridges of the Niolu offer a magnificent view over the vast, verdant basin of the Golo Valley, known as the Niolu. The north-western horizon is dominated by the Monte Cinto massif, Corsica’s highest peak (2,706 m), and its surrounding peaks, all over 2,500 m high.
To the south-east, the gorges of another of Corsica’s great rivers come into view: those of the Tavignanu, upstream from Corte.

Technical specifications

The tarmac section covers 15 % of the route, or 6.8 km.
Forest tracks, or DFCI, cover 72 %, or 33 km.
Three sections along the trails will be easy to navigate. The final sections near Bocca di Conia (S2-3) and Bocca a Canaghia (R2) will be more challenging.
A gravel bike can therefore be used across a wide range of terrain.
