General Meeting of the Club des Cent Cols in Canet-en-Roussillon (Pyrénées-Orientales) on 26 and 27 November 2011

Presentation

Canet en Roussillon, the second-largest town in the Pyrénées-Orientales department with 13,000 inhabitants, is a modern seaside resort in the far south of France, on the seafront 10 km from Perpignan, and has earned itself an international reputation in the sporting world. Canet combines the charm of a traditional village with that of a fine sandy beach, at the foot of the mountains, in the heart of a region rich in discoveries.

The club that welcomes you, L'Amicale Cycliste Canétoise, will be celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. With 99 members, including 18 female cyclists, it combines the pleasures of cycling with those of a party. To achieve this, 3 weekly outings on the road and also on mountain bikes, and 3 annual trips in France and abroad are scheduled, as well as gastronomic meals and dances, birthday celebrations and other festivities to which the wives are invited. Conviviality is the word that best characterises our spirit. With 8 centcolists in the association, you'll understand how pleased we are to welcome you to this beautiful sunny plain of Roussillon, situated between the sea and the mountains, where the mountain passes abound.

Programme

The reception will be open from Friday evening, allowing those who wish to do so to ride on Saturday morning, with a road circuit and a mountain bike circuit. Saturday afternoon will be devoted to the General Meeting itself, followed by an aperitif hosted by the town of Canet, and a festive meal.

Sunday morning's programme will include a road and mountain bike outing. There will also be a guided walk to the Etang de Canet and the reconstructed fishing village. There will also be a guided tour of the château de Canet and the aquarium. Those wishing to do so can drive to Collioure, the pearl of the Côte Vermeille.
