General Meeting of the Club des Cent Cols in Parent (Puy-de-Dôme) on 27 and 28 November 2010

The Amicale Cyclo Clermontoise invites you to the 2010 General Meeting of the Club des Cent Cols in Parent, in the Val d'Allier. Accommodation and catering will be provided by the Village de Vacances de Parent, a long-standing partner of the FFCT, which has moved from VAL to VVF.

Europe's last great wild river, from its Cévennes source in the Lozère to its confluence with the Loire at the Bec d'Allier in the Nivernais region, the Allier forms the backbone of the Auvergne.

Its valley separates the Devès plateau from the Margeride mountains, the Puys range from the Livradois mountains and the Combrailles from the Madeleine mountains. Its course waters the limagnes of Brioude, Issoire and Riom, symbolised by the three languages on the traditional coat of arms of the Province of Auvergne.

Programme

The reception will be open from Friday evening for those who have travelled a long way to get their bikes out on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon will be devoted to the meeting itself, followed by a festive meal.

Le dimanche matin seront au programme : une sortie vélo de route ou une sortie VTT ou une marche guidée avec visite d’une cave, avant le repas de clôture à midi.

The routes

Les parcours seront répartis sur les deux rives de l’Allier. Les circuits routiers feront environ 60 km, les circuits VTT seront adaptés pour une demi-journée.

Rive droite : le circuit des châteaux : Yronde-et-Buron, Saint-Babel, Chauriat, Mezel, Busséol, avec passage par la capitale de l’ail, la cité médiévale de Billom et par Vic-le-Comte, ancienne capitale des Comtes d’Auvergne. Trois cols sur ce parcours : les cols de la Croix des Gardes, de Potey et de Jallat.
Rive gauche : le circuit des oppida : trois grimpées pour découvrir trois sites en hauteur où les fouilles archéologiques ont mis à jour un oppidum gaulois : Corent, Gondole, et le plus connu Gergovie, point culminant du parcours à 717 m sur les flancs duquel se trouve le seul col du parcours : le col des Goules (FR-63-698). Au retour passage par les villages viticoles de Veyre-Monton, La Sauvetat, Authezat et le village de Montpeyroux caractérisé par sa tour et ses constructions en arkose.
Marche guidée du dimanche matin : prévoir un covoiturage jusqu’au village de Boudes dans le Lembronnais. Une marche de 2 heures (prévoir chaussures de marche) permettra de découvrir le « Colorado auvergnat » : la vallée des Saints composée de cheminées de fées sculptées dans des argiles latéritiques rouges. Au retour visite d’une cave chez un producteur à Boudes.

On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November, two road and mountain bike circuits are on offer, numbered R1, R2, V1 and V2. All routes start from the Parent VVF and run in an anti-clockwise direction.

Registration

You don't need to register if you want to attend the AGM itself on the 27th and ride with your colleagues on the morning of the 28th. However, if you want accommodation and/or meals, registration is essential. So please fill in the registration form and return it with your payment to the address shown on the form before 10 November.
