Mimosas" spring break on the Côte d'Azur in Agay (Var) from 9 to 14 March 2008

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. You've got the pictures, let's skip the speech.
You'll know almost everything when you know that more than 80 of us took part in this first 'mimosa' holiday, a first meeting that was still winter, but well tempered by the ideal climate of the Côte d'Azur.
Of course, René Poty's initiative is to be applauded - retirement gives you ideas. Gérard Birelli is to be thanked for his tours and his booklet, as is Gérard Fillon who, as a good regional man, was the ideal guide.
When it comes to landscapes, the images speak for themselves: the colours, the rugged terrain of the Esterel Massif...perhaps the wind is missing, but you all know that the Mediterranean without wind is like Roux without Combaluzier in the lifts...
As for the atmosphere, you see the smiles, you guess the conversations... what you don't hear are the accents. Here we had a concentration of what's being done in our country and even outside it, as a Belgian quartet, a Swiss duo and an Italian soloist had enriched our choir. When the silence fell, it wasn't to listen to the birds singing, but because the slope was getting tougher, and the feet had left the pedals to hit the ground... And everyone was waiting for each other, helping each other, encouraging each other, emboldening each other to go and look for the new passes, the new Pas, the new Baisses that the additives had offered up to our covetousness. We harvested on mountain bikes and harvested on road bikes... unless it was the other way round. The harvest, so little disturbed by an afternoon of rain, was excellent.
Talking of the grape harvest, it could well be that the Corbières will see a flight of birds of prey in March 2009?
