Summer holiday in Vogüe, 29 June to 06 July 2024

The 2024 summer holiday will take place from 29 June to 06 July 2024 in the Ardèche department. It has been prepared by a small team: Corinne Dameron, Roland Dameron and Bernard Pommel.

We'll be staying in the "Domaine Lou Capitelle" holiday village.

Introduction to the region

Situated in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, nestling in the heart of the picturesque landscapes of the southern Ardèche, Vogüe was built sheltered from the winds at the foot of a fifty-metre-high cliff along the banks of the River Ardèche.

Close to the Ardèche gorges, this picturesque village is listed as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France" and is appreciated for its exceptional natural setting, medieval architecture and authentic atmosphere.

Traces of human occupation date back to prehistoric times, but it wasn't until the Middle Ages that the village really took off. Founded by the Lords of Vogüe in the 12th century, it grew rapidly around its castle. One of the historic jewels of the village, it was rebuilt in the 17th century and is now open to the public, housing exhibition rooms. Just a stone's throw from the château is the church of Sainte Marie, built on the site of a former Benedictine priory. It was completely rebuilt in 1691, after the Wars of Religion.

Strolling through the narrow streets, it's impossible not to notice the stone houses, typical of the region. Some of these houses date back to the 17th century. Until 1940, quarrymen exploited the Vogüe blue stone. They lived in rue des Balcons, where the staircases bear witness to their skills.

Today, the village's main source of income is tourism, thanks to its three labels: Plus beau village de France, Village de caractère and Via Ardèche.

From Domaine Lou Capitelle, you can set off to discover the wonders of the Cévennes ardéchoises, the Tanargue massif, the Mézenc plateau or the Gerbier de Jonc. You'll discover the Ardèche gorges, the famous Pont d'Arc, the Chauvet cave, the villages of Joyeuse and Largentière and the châteaux of Montréal and Joannas.

You'll be able to sample criques, caillettes, maoche and the countless specialities made with chestnuts, another emblem of this beautiful region. You'll finish your meal with a picodon, washed down with syrah or viognier, followed by a Joyeuse macaroon, a speciality of the town since 1851.

And above all, there will be more than 60 passes, both by road and by mule.

The annual Jean Perdoux international gathering

The traditional annual international gathering will take place on Sunday 30 June 2024 from 11.00 a.m. in the commune of Juvinas near the Juvinas pass FR-07-0718.

A buffet aperitif will be served on site and all our members will be able to enjoy it, not just those registered for full board. All you have to do is sign up for this off-site meal (see the section on registrations).

Hosting

Domaine Lou Capitelle welcomes you to the heart of an exceptional riverside site, facing the limestone cliffs at the start of the Ardèche Gorges. You will be accommodated in 18m2 rooms with twin 90cm beds and a shower room with separate toilet. Single rooms are also available. Bed linen and towels are provided and changed once during your stay. Meals (breakfast and dinner) are served in a panoramic room with a breathtaking view of the village of Vogüe.

You will have free access to the indoor pool area with whirlpool bath, hydromassage jets and jacuzzi. Remember to bring your swimming costume (no shorts).

The steam room and sauna are available at an additional cost.

Please note that the registration form consists of two pages: the registration form itself (make sure you fill in all the sections that apply to you and sign at the bottom of the page), and the special conditions that you will also need to sign. If you are planning to be accompanied by your partner, please register him/her as an associate member with your Regional or National Delegate beforehand, and don't forget to ... by default...

The "Organisation Expenses" package must be subscribed to by all members taking part in the trip (whether they choose full board, the 7-dinner package, or whether they provide their own accommodation and food), with the exception of associate members (decision of the Board of Directors on 26 September 2020). This package is a contribution towards all the benefits and services they receive by taking part in the trip: cost of preparing the trip and the tours, publication of the maps displayed and the trombinoscope, brochure of the trip, organisation of activities for accompanying persons, Club insurance, etc.
For legal reasons, these holidays are only open to members of the Club, so please make sure you are up to date with your membership fees before sending in your registration form.
You can choose from the following packages:
"Full board" at €527, to which you must add the "organisation costs" package at €16, i.e. a total of €543.
"7-dinner package" at €164 if you are staying on your own but wish to share the dinners with your friends. You must add the "organisation costs" package at €16 for a total of €180.

"Organisational costs package" at €16 if you provide your own accommodation and dinners (except associate members).
Optional subscription to Gritchen insurance (2.34 % of the amount of benefits with a minimum of €8 per person or €16 for a couple)
If you are not a member of the FFCT, add compulsory insurance at €7 per person.

If you are a couple, one of whom is an associate member who does not hold an FFCT licence, and you wish to take out Gritchen insurance, you choose two packages at 527 euros, a package for organisational costs at 16 euros, i.e. a total of 1070 euros, add Gritchen insurance 2.34 % x 1070 euros = 25.03 euros (which is higher than the minimum of 16 euros) and non-FFCT insurance at 7 euros, i.e. a total of 1102.03 euros.
You can pay the registration fee by cheque or by transfer to the Club's account. In view of the additional fees charged by the organisation that manages it, we do not accept payment by PayPal. Members are allocated in the order in which the cheque or transfer is sent. For the former, the postmark will be taken as proof, for the latter, please send us a copy of the transfer order. If the holiday is full, a waiting list will be set up, which will operate according to the same priority allocation rules as for direct registrations. Trombinoscope : If you have not yet provided your photo for the trombinoscope and would like to be included, please tick the appropriate box and send us a photo in JPG format by e-mail. Further information will be posted later on the website, which you can consult regularly. Each time, the person in charge of the trips will send a short e-mail to the mailing list.
