Women, by women, for women

A column by Françoise Valluche cc 6808

Article 4: Women in action

At this time of year, cycling activity is very diverse and many volunteers do their best to ensure that everything is organised within their clubs, CODEPs and COREGs.

First of all, congratulations to the new members of the Centcols club, and to the women pass hunters represented in the 2023 magazine.

These volunteers include women.
I would like to name the female members of the COREG AURA who are involved in various committees:

  • Danielle GUILLEMOT, head of the tourism and holidays committee
  • Janette FRAIOLI, Head of the Women's Committee
  • Monique LABORDE, in charge of the Youth Committee
  • Françoise VALLUCHE, Head of the Disability Committee
  • Jocelyne LEFEBVRE, head of the challenge committee

Each of these committees organises trips, which they have successfully organised in collaboration with the members of each committee.

Within this COREG AURA (editor's note: Comité Régional Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes), the president is assisted by 3 other women (the treasurer, the deputy treasurer and the deputy secretary).
With 8 women out of 15 members, parity has been achieved.

Simply women involved in structures, often with the observation that a lot of time is given over to enjoyment and a little less to cycling.

The difficulty at this time of year is recruiting women into clubs and structures. Fortunately, communication via social networks is an asset.

In view of their involvement in specific organisations, the younger generation feels less involved. Let's hope that this trend is reversed, as it's also a great source of satisfaction for each of them when their mission is successful.

Article 3: Gender mix and parity, women within the structures

In article 2, I stressed the need to take the plunge and get involved in voluntary work within clubs and structures at a time when clubs, CODEPs, COREGs and the Federation are calling for applications from both men and women.

Most of the General Meetings have been held since the article was published.

Lydie Chenot

Today I'd like to pay tribute to the elected female member of the French Cycling Federation's Women's Committee, Lydie CHENOT of the Grand Est region and a member of the Club des Cent Cols.
During the Federal General Meeting on 11 and 12 December in NIORT, she was tasked with presenting the report on gender equality.
A new directive on sports law provides for the renewal of governing bodies, with parity between men and women in sports federations.

For the record:

  • Parity = 50% men - 50% women
  • Co-education = 30% women

You can see this report "From gender diversity to parity, the Federation is working on it" in the paper version of the Fédérale magazine on page 50 or on the website Ffvélo.fr

This magazine also honours 50 years old from Club des Cent Cols on pages 24 and 25.

I will also name Nadine GIRAUDEAU who took part in the federal AGM in Niort to present the Cent Cols club and man the club stand.

Statistics In the Regional and Departmental Committees, there are only 15 % women, often in secretarial positions.
During the workshop debate on the subject of gender balance, a number of factors were discussed to ensure the loyalty of female employees and the need to share experience within structures.
Attract new members to the clubs (pace in groups - social network communication - family welcome - club website, etc.).

This is becoming an obvious issue for our structures, and the long-term future of our clubs depends on it.

Personally in my CODEP63 for the renewal of our board 1 only candidate. He will replace the treasurer who resigned at the 2021 General Assembly.

I was elected to the post of president to replace the Chairman, who resigned at the 2021 AGM. I had been Secretary since 1995.

Volunteer crisis in our clubs. And in the office of the Cent Cols club, there are positions for women too.

This is a subject that needs to be highlighted in our clubs.

Cycle Year 2023 in the Puy De Dôme with the passage of the Tour de France and the departure of Women's round in Clermont-Ferrand. The focus will be on women at the Fête Du Vélo on 13 and 14 May.

It's up to each and every one of us to make a difference.

Article 2: Women as seen by women

When I wrote my first article, I was planning to write on the subject: Women Volunteering, and
women in the structures.
It is a good time of year for General Assemblies at clubs, Regional Committees and our own
Federation, we are calling for male and female candidates.
It's not easy to take the first step, a thousand excuses, too old (elderly), no time, family, no desire
to get involved, meetings, IT, which is already underway, and much more. And
The work is carried out by the volunteer members who have already been elected.
Yes, but our hobby has to be shared, and these volunteers devote a little less of their time to it.
time to practice our hobby, cycling, cycle touring, road or mountain biking, or to devote ourselves to developing
their list of passes.
It's obvious that the time available to us is limited when we sign up as ordinary members,
or responsible for various committees, will inevitably be affected.
But parity has not yet been achieved in many Clubs, CODEPs and COREGs. It is important to
that women bring their own perspective to our activity, that they're not just players.
Once we've taken that first step, there's a lot to learn, a lot to observe, but also a lot to do.
share our knowledge in the field. It's an investment, you'll get positive feedback and you'll be able to make the most of it.
sometimes inconvenient.
I can say that personally I was quickly immersed in my club's office following a

Congratulations to all the women who have given or are giving their time to our club, but I suppose they're not the only ones.
that the executive committee is not complete, so perhaps a candidate will be put forward at our next AGM.

ROUET currently has 14 active members, including 8 women. I am personally responsible for
the Disability Committee.

of our FFCT Federation at the last AGM.

Article 1: Women by Women

Women, cycling and its benefits.
Like everyone else, of course, we've all cycled. With the development of this activity, and depending on the time we have available, we may have been led to practise it on our own, with our family or in a club, as a sportswoman or in complete freedom.
Currently the boom With the advent of the mountain bike, we are seeing more women of all ages on this type of bike, whether road or MTB, but riding without a licence and not belonging to a club.
My opinion: a very good initiative on their part, whether it's with or without assistance, it broadens an essential field of activity: sport, health, personal travel, not forgetting tourism and culture.
So there's a lot of work to be done to roll it out together.
This is still a vast subject, so I propose to follow this page with various topics.
