Presentation of Nant

It's in the Aveyron that we're holding our General Meeting this year and our associated autumn break. Nant lies on the border between the mountainous Cévennes and the arid high plateaux of the Causses. This medieval village is situated on the Dourbie, a rushing river that, from its source near Mont Aigoual, has carved out the Gorges de la Dourbie to the east and the Canyon de la Dourbie to the north on its way to the Tarn, which it joins at Millau. We won't be going as far as the Aigoual, a beautiful mountain that we explored extensively during our 2011 trip to Camprieu. A few passes will nevertheless quench our thirst for autumn exploits. Within a radius of around forty kilometres, in addition to the Dourbie and the Aigoual, there are numerous sites to satisfy our tourist curiosity: Gorges du Tarn, Millau and its Viaduct, Saint-Affrique, Roquefort, the Chaos of Montpellier-le-Vieux, etc.

There are three sites on the Internet where you can find out more about Nant and the surrounding area:

The routes

On both Saturday and Sunday mornings, a road circuit and a mountain bike circuit will be on offer. They are all accessible to all our members in terms of length, gradient and difficulty. The two mountain bike circuits have been tested in the field.
While the mountain passes won't be exceptional, the scenery should satisfy even the most demanding cyclists. A brief description of the routes and gpx tracks will be available in the autumn.

Road routes

R1 : This 54km "Dourbie and Trézevel" route, with its 800m of ascent, takes you over the La Pierre Plantée and Rhodes passes.

R2 : In 62 km and 900 m of positive ascent, it will take you over the Campestre and Larzac Causses and take you over 3 passes.

Mountain bike routes

V1 : Leaving from the holiday centre, it will take you over 26 km and 800 m of ascent to discover 3 passes between Dourbie and Causse.

V2 : After setting off by car at 18 km, you'll be heading to "the source of the Burle"! Another 3 passes in 23 km and 650 m of ascent.

Note from the Board of Directors

If you arrange your accommodation elsewhere than at the holiday village, please let us know that you will be taking part in the holiday, for 3 reasons:

  1. To be able to correctly size joint events (information sessions, welcome and farewell parties).

  3. To help organisers deal with any unforeseen events.

Other accommodation options

There is a public car park in the immediate vicinity of the Domaine du Roc Nantais: motorhomes are allowed to park there (as well as in the other car parks in the commune), but there are no connections (electricity, water, etc.).

Trombinoscope, a new feature:

When we meet up at trips (and other events), we meet a lot of friends and acquaintances, but we're not sure we know everyone's name, and we don't always dare admit it or ask. To try to remedy this, as announced at the Bédoin AGM, we are proposing to give each participant in the trips a simple trombinoscope of those present, with the photo, name and membership number of all those who have sent us (either beforehand or with their registration) their photo and authorisation to publish it on the trombinoscope page of the Club's website. You can send a digital photo of your face alone as a JPG file of good definition and quality, with a width/height ratio of ¾, clearly mentioning your name and membership number, to photodemembre@centcols.orgor directly at sejours@centcols.org who will pass on the information. Make sure you tick the yes or no box on the registration form, depending on whether you accept or not. If no box is ticked, the answer will be deemed negative. If you send a "paper" photo with your enrolment form, this will only be used for the trip's trombinoscope.

Annual General Meeting of the Club des Cent Cols

It will be held on site on Saturday afternoon. For more details, go to Annual General Meeting.

The invitation to the meeting and the statutory documents will be sent out as usual via an Info Cent Cols in October and will also be available on the website.

At the end of the work, we'll have a drinks reception to allow us to get together in a less formal way.
