André Tignon

CC 1583, André Tignon died on 14 April 2024. André was a great cyclotourist and a member of the Audax cyclos de Tournai. He published many reports on his website dedicated to cycle touring: http://tignon.andre.free.fr/
He showed his attachment to the Club des Cent Cols through a number of publications. We often came across him during the federal weeks on the roads or at the drinks organised for members of the Club des Cent Cols.
During the 2022 regional meeting organised by Henk Leroy, he and his club organised a warm welcome in Tournai: https://photos.app.goo.gl/x965ongutg9esov48

Our cyclotourist friends from Grenoble wrote an article about him on their website: https://cyclotourisme-grenoble-ctg.org/bra/le-b-r-a-vu-par-andre-tignon/
Some of the testimonials collected on the mailing list following publication of the news of his death:
Hello Indeed, the news reached me last night. A great name in Belgian cycle tourism (although he was born in Cholet) is leaving us. He worked for many years for the Tournai Audax. His website contains some wonderful pages about his passion for cycling and the hunt for the passes. http://tignon.andre.free.fr/report.php?id=2059 I often spoke with him at PBPs. Condolences to his family and friends. Didier REMOND DT01
Hello, André, who was very well known in the world of cycle touring, is leaving us, and my heart goes out to him. We met many times during the federal weeks to which he was faithful. I had the pleasure of inviting him to the Codep74 and 100 Cols events. He then graced us with a photo report on his website. Best regards, Guy Harlé
André Tignon's departure, after those of Jean Perdoux, Gérard Mitser and Jean François de Regnaucourt, is very difficult for former colleagues to bear. Henri Dusseau
Hello everyone, It's very sad news that I learnt during my cycling trip (I got back last night). I knew André very well, having met him at the Paris Cycle Show in 1989, and seeing him many times, including in 2017, when he came to visit the exhibition I was organising on the bicentenary of the invention of the bicycle. We had lunch together that day, in the company of my friend Jacques Seray and his wife Eliane. André had attended the lecture on the invention of the bicycle given by Jacques. A charming man, who loved cycling and cyclists... And who had a perfect grasp of the world of cycling on his fantastic website. He followed us on this LDD, and sometimes made me a few comments on our exchanges... We're sure going to miss André... Hello everyone, I've only met André once, when he came to pick us up at the Rumégies campsite during our Tour de la France. He took us to see a party with giants, treated us to a great meal at his place, then drove us back to the campsite. He gave us a great time at the end of the afternoon. Thank you André for everything you've done for cycle touring. We will never forget you. My sincere condolences to his wife Jeannine, his family and all his friends. @lain DARGET (PAU 64)
Rest in Peace André. What memories you leave us.
