Departure Location: Oberrotweil. Free parking on Hauptstraße, just outside the village, heading east. Alt: 215 m.
Tourist information
This route takes you around the crest of the Kaiserstuhl (Emperor's Chair). This small massif near the Rhine is an old volcano dating from the primary era. Covered in vines, its wines are renowned.
The route is enhanced by numerous vantage points overlooking the neighbouring Vosges mountains to the west, the hillsides of Alsace, the Rhine valley and the Black Forest massif to the east.
Technical specifications
This route is not difficult. The route covers around 50% of good rolling tracks and the rest on tarmac roads.
Access to the first pass, Eck DE-BW-0420a, requires a short push.
As with most routes in the Black Forest, there are often some fairly steep gradients.
