Author description
Author Jean-Luc Ceccato
Course to be carried out in October 2019
Departure In Germany, car parks are very often equipped with blue discs or have to be paid for. In Oppenau, park in the small free car park in the middle of Bahnhofstraße. Alt: 277 m.
Tourist information
There are numerous viewpoints along the way, particularly at Schäfersfeldpass DE-BW-0752a.
Technical specifications
The route is not difficult: 40% of tarmac roads and the rest on nice rolling tracks.
The only part of the route that requires you to push your bike is at the end of Oppenau at km 32 for around 500 m, then you pass a farm and have to take a very passable grassy path that twists upwards until you find a track again and climb the Gehreckle Pass DE-BW-0510 there and back.
As with most routes in the Black Forest, there are often some fairly steep gradients.
The two-loop route allows you to return to Oppenau and refuel, so you don't have to load up on water and food for the first part.
