FAQ - The Club

What is the Club des Cent Cols?

It's a cycle touring club founded in 1972 by mountain biking enthusiasts. Their aim: to collect mountain passes.

How can you be part of it?

You must have climbed at least 100 different passes, including 5 over 2000m, and drawn up a list of them. Then send this list to the club secretariat, together with your first membership fee. See the game rules.

Do I need to provide proof of my visit?

You don't have to prove anything. The Club's basic principle is trust.

Who should I send my list to in order to join the Club?

The first list of collars valid for membership must be sent to the Club secretariat. See the game rules.

How much does it cost to become a member of the Club?

Membership costs 20 euros. This entitles the member to a personalised diploma, a medal and a copy of the annual magazine. In subsequent years, a minimum contribution of 15 euros is required. These fees may be updated.

In the years following my membership, who do I send my membership fee to?

Annual subscriptions are to be sent to the territorial or national delegates corresponding to their place of residence or paid by bank transfer, in which case they must forward payment to the delegates themselves. See the game rules.

What is a territorial or national delegate?

Territorial delegates (TDs) or national delegates receive lists of members and membership fees in the years following the year of joining. They maintain the Roll of Honour (see below). The term "DT" is used in France, and each "territory" comprises a number of departments. It should be noted that a DT may not live in the "territory" for which he or she is responsible.

Do I have to contribute if I haven't climbed any mountain passes in the year?

To remain an "active" member and benefit from the Club's services, you need to send in your membership fee each year, with or without a list of new passes.

What is the roll of honour?

It appears in the annual magazine, and is a list of members, specifying the number of shares they hold and the amount of their subscription.

Do I have access to my member file?

All members can consult their personal details on the Club's website and modify their personal details. To do so, they simply need to inform their Territorial Delegate (TD) or the secretariat of their e-mail address. Only the TD can change the number of passes. Log in to your account

Does the Club organise trips? Meetings?

Every year, the Club organises a series of trips that bring members together to share the same passion. Traditionally, during the summer, an international meeting is organised at the top of a mountain pass chosen for its beauty and tranquillity. Stays alternate between the four main mountain ranges (Alps, Pyrenees, Massif-Central, Vosges).

Is there a calendar of Club outings?

The Club does not organise weekly outings, as this is not its vocation, unlike a local club. Members meet up during holidays, gatherings, regional meetings or informally (see the calendar).

Is there a jersey or other items of clothing symbolic of the Club?

The Club provides a range of clothing, badges, etc. for its members.

How can I get in touch with other Club members?

In addition to meetings during the annual trips, the Club offers its members a wide range of activities. "discussion list on the internet.

Does the Club issue licences?

The Club is affiliated to the Fédération Française de Cyclotourisme and can therefore issue licences. However, this is not its vocation, but that of local clubs. However, the club would like to collect licences from individual members to give our Codep and Coreg more weight. https://centcols.org/licences-ffct/

How many members are there in the Club des Cent Cols?

Since it was founded in 1972, the Club has signed up more than 7,800 members, 2,000 of whom are still active.

I stopped paying into the Club several years ago. Do I have to re-join if I want to become a member again?

The membership number allocated at the time of registration remains valid for life. No member is ever removed from the Club's database. As a result, sending a new membership fee to your regional delegate is all you need to become an active member again and benefit from all the services offered by the Club.

Can the number of passes over 100 be counted?

Yes, every year when you update your list of climbs. All you have to do is respect the rule of 5 passes over 2000 m per hundred. A diploma can be awarded to members who have completed a significant number of passes, starting with 500 and then every 1000 passes.

I'm missing some passes over 2000m. Should I stop sending my annual list of passes?

No, all the passes crossed will be recorded even if the "quota" of 5 passes over 2000 m per hundred is not reached. Only the roll of honour published in the magazine will take account of the limitation placed on the total number of passes declared. When the number of passes over 2000 m has increased, the overall total will be automatically adjusted again.

I'm not French, can I register for the CCC?

Yes, the Club is open to all nationalities.

Where can I find the addresses of the Club officers?

On the Contacts On our website you will find the email addresses of the people in charge, as well as the postal addresses of all the territorial and regional delegates.

How can I help the Club?

The club can always use your skills in a number of areas (preparing trips and concentrations, IT, etc.). If you are interested, please contact the secretariat. secretaire@centcols.org
Every four years, you can also stand for election to the Club's Board of Directors. The call for candidates is published in Info-Cent-Cols.

Do I have voting rights?

Every paid-up member can vote each year on the three reports presented at the General Meeting. Every four years, you can also vote for candidates for a position on the Board.
Other votes may be organised on certain important subjects.
