FR-07 Vernoux-en-Vivarais - Route 93 km, D+ 1700 m, 16 passes

Author description

Author : René Mercier
Course : carried out in June 2023
Departure Vernoux-en-Vivarais, gymnasium and swimming pool car park, just north of the town.

Tourist information

The course borders the Monts d'Ardèche between 350 m and 750 m altitude. Vernoux-en-Vivarais is located in the Haut-Vivarais region.

Technical specifications

The route is 100% on roads (%). There are 3 km of challenging terrain before reaching the Col de la Mure. There is little traffic, except on the outskirts of Vernoux-en-Vivarais, but it remains manageable.
Plenty of shops in Vernoux, a few shops and a fountain in Alboussière, otherwise it's hard to find water and food elsewhere.
This route can be split into two loops, allowing you to take a lunch break.
To this route, we can add the Tracol (FR-07-0740b) by climbing 600 metres up a very steep slope along a narrow track from the Col de la Justice. A car passing by forced me to dismount halfway up; feeling disheartened after such an intense effort, I didn’t want to complete the climb.
