FR-2A Calanques de Piana, Porto – Route: 102 km, elevation gain: 2,380 m, 10 mountain passes

Author description

Author Bernard Giraudeau
Course : carried out in 2022
Departure : Sagone, junction of the D81 and D70 in the centre of the village. Altitude: 5 m.

Tourist information

This route is one of the two or three most beautiful routes in Corsica.
From Cargèse, the view sweeps towards the small gulfs of Pérou and Chiuni. Piana is one of the most beautiful villages in France, and the Gulf of Porto is a palette of three colours: green for the forest, blue for the sea and red for the rocks. The famous «calanques» are situated between Piana and Porto. Here, the red granite has been eroded into intricate lace-like patterns.
The climb up to Évisa, through the valley of the River Porto and its tributaries, is never tiring.

Technical specifications

The roads are of good quality. The climb to the small Curnatoghiu pass is steep, and the pass is not the highest point before Cargèse! The road is also steep just after the Sevi pass, but it's downhill!
