FR-2A Between Gravona and Prunelli – Route: 94 km, elevation gain: 1,870 m, 7 mountain passes
Author description
Author Bernard Giraudeau
Course Completed in October 2021
Departure : in Gravona, a car park near the garden centre and shops, at the T40/D55b roundabout. Altitude: 11 m.
Tourist information
The route first follows the roads along the eastern flank of the Gravona Valley, passing through numerous villages. It then climbs to the Col de Scalella, which offers a magnificent view of the peaks of Corsica’s central mountain range. The return journey takes you through the Prunelli Valley and past the artificial lake at Tolla, passing through three picturesque villages whilst offering lovely views of the southern coast of the Gulf of Ajaccio.
Technical specifications
The road between Ucciani and Tavera is in very poor condition. Following it uphill, in the proposed direction, is less strenuous than the other way round.
Similarly, the road through the Prunelli Gorges is not in the best condition, but work was due to begin in 2021.
