Departure : Lamalou-les-Bains, in the town centre, from the car park at the market halls on Place Fernand Gouges. There are plenty of car parks in the town.

Tourist information

The route starts in the spa town of Lamalou-les-Bains, then, halfway through, ventures into the departments of Aveyron and Tarn. The return journey through the Hérault passes by the source of the Agoût and the summit of the Espinouse massif, then runs alongside the Caroux massif and its ‘Forest of Writers and Combatants’. This forest honours several hundred writers who died during the two world wars: a walk through the massif is dotted with commemorative steles. At the entrance to Lamalou-les-Bains, you pass under an old viaduct that has been converted into a cycle path linking Bédarieux to Mazamet over a distance of 80 km (the Passa Païs).

Technical specifications

The route is almost entirely on roads (%). Only the Col de la Plane is accessible via an R1 track for 200 metres.

Various water points in Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare, including one in front of the gendarmerie on the route.
