Departure At the Villes-sur-Auzon sports complex, south of the village. Car parks next to the stadium and tennis courts.

Tourist information

A scenic route linking the hilltop Provençal villages of Venasque, Murs and Sault, which I recommend visiting. Stop at the Saint-Hubert viewpoint at km 60 for the view of the Nesque Gorges with Mont Ventoux in the background. Opposite the Rocher du Cire, the Castellaras viewpoint overlooks the gorges 4 km past Monieux. In the distance stands the southern face of Mont Ventoux, its summit usually snow-capped until mid-April: it watches over the cyclists.

Technical specifications

The route is entirely road-based. Two small tunnels (100 m and 50 m) and arches cut into the rock in the Nesque gorges.
Shops, toilets and water points in Sault and Villes-sur-Auzon.
