Summer break in Bussang (Vosges) from 13 to 20 July 2014
Presentation
The Cent Cols Club's summer event will take place in the heart of the Parc naturel des ballons des hautes Vosges. Created in 1989, the park covers three regions (Alsace, Franche-Comté and Lorraine) and four départements (Haut-Rhin, Haute-Saône, Vosges and Territoire de Belfort). With 208 communes and 256,000 inhabitants over an area of 3,000 km2, it is one of the largest and most densely populated of the French regional nature parks.
The Vosges mountains offer a succession of mountain landscapes, balloons with rounded peaks and high-altitude pastures known as hautes chaumes. The highest point in this protected area is the Grand Ballon, at an altitude of 1424 metres.
The Park encompasses such diverse areas as the Hautes-Vosges, the valleys of the Vosges, Haut-Rhin and Comtoises, the Mille Étangs plateau, the Sous-Vosges region and the Alsace wine-growing foothills. It is also home to rare natural environments such as upland heathland, peat bogs, beech-fir forests, etc. These highly diverse environments are home to the fauna and flora that are emblematic of our massif: lynx, capercaillie, cranberry, drosera, etc. Five nature reserves help to protect the most prestigious environments on the Grande Crête.
The Parc des Ballons des Vosges has been inhabited for a long time and is a living area, where people were able to exploit water, wood, stone and the subsoil to develop industry and crafts. It is also the heir to a turbulent history linked to world conflicts. Some sixty museums, heritage sites, historical tours and interpretation centres offer visitors the chance to discover the Park's rich heritage.

Hosting
We'll be staying at the Azureva Bussang holiday village, located 3 km from the village and its shops, in a place called Le Larcenaire. It comprises a central building (bar, wifi, restaurant, meeting room), an indoor swimming pool and new accommodation with double rooms.
For more details on the holiday village, see the page Azureva Bussang.
Tours
Each day, a road circuit and a mountain bike circuit will be on offer. These routes allow you to make the most of the countryside and cultural treasures on offer. These routes can be adapted to suit individual fitness levels and tastes. The planned dates are indicated but will remain flexible depending on the weather. Some of the routes have no fixed dates, and everyone is free to do them if and when they want. The list of all tours is available, as well as separate lists for road routes and mountain bike trails. From these lists, altitude profiles and interactive maps are available for each route. Route sheets and geolocation files can also be downloaded from these pages.
