Vosges regional meeting at Col du Calvaire on 26 August 2017

Jean-Christophe and Arsène invite you to take part in the Cent Cols de l'Est concentration at the Col du Calvaire.
This pass links Le Valtin in the Vosges to Orbey in the Haut Rhin. It is on the route des crêtes. The climb via Orbey is tough and one of the hardest in the massif. You won't have to!

Meet at 8.45am at the car park on the pass. Marie-Françoise will welcome you with a smile and serve you coffee and cake. Then, all together, you'll plunge downhill towards Orbey to climb back up to the Col du Calvaire via the Col du Bonhomme.
The road route will cover a distance of 45 km, with an ascent of 1,200 m. You'll pass over the Chamont, Bagenelles, Pré de Raves, Bonhomme and Louschbach passes, before finally arriving at the Calvaire pass.
The mountain bike route will cover a distance of 34km with a difference in altitude of 1100m. You'll pass over the Col de Bermont, the Col du Bonhomme, the Col du Louschbach and then the Col du Calvaire.

Afterwards, we'll get together to share traditional bread and cheese, followed by a packed lunch. You can also eat at the auberge on the pass.
It will, of course, be possible to shorten the route, and older climbers who no longer feel like straining their muscles can join us directly at the pass, at around 1pm. They'll be very welcome!
For the hungrier riders, there will be a number of passes in the area ready to welcome them in the afternoon.

Don't miss the opportunity to sample a mouth-watering Munster cheese and a no less excellent Alsace wine.
